Tomorrow is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Royal Wedding and in honor of that momentous occasion, I’m bringing you Lauren and Wingate’s Richmond Royal Wedding! If ever there were a bride fit to be royalty, it is Lauren. She exudes class and values tradition. Lauren and Wingate’s wedding reminds me a lot of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding. Take a peek and you’ll see why!
Lauren and Wingate were married on December 30, 2017 at St. Bridget Catholic Church with their black tie reception following at The Jefferson Hotel in downtown Richmond. The Jefferson is a Richmond landmark and has been for over a century. It is a five-star luxury hotel; I was humbled to work there!
Lauren and her bridesmaids got ready in the Presidential Suite of The Jefferson, which is a beyond amazing space with a spectacular marble balcony. Rachel May, the couple’s talented photographer, told me the light was perfect on the balcony, not to mention the views! Lauren could have been mistaken for Kate Middleton in her timeless wedding gown with detachable lace bolero.
Lauren and Wingate’s ceremony was simple, traditional and elegant. Lauren wisely selected to have a winter wedding when Christmas décor is prevalent; she did not need to add many touches to the beautiful stained glass chapel.
Similarly, not much need be done at The Jefferson. Cocktail hour was hosted in the famous atrium where guests gathered for an opulent spread overlooked by the famous Christmas tree. The reception was held in the Grand Ballroom, notable for its large chandeliers.
The couple exited through ribbon wands before heading off to their honeymoon at The Greenbrier, another superior Virginia property. All the details were fit for a queen and nothing was spared in the coming together of these two prominent Richmond families.
I’m sure the Royal Wedding will give us more inspiration tomorrow! I’ll be watching with my little sidekicks. I look forward to seeing the trends that arise in the wedding industry as a result!
