Heather and Woody were married on May 13, 2017 at Early Mountain Vineyards in Madison, Virginia. My day-of wedding coordination services were referred to this couple by their caterer, The Local, and I am so glad! Heather and Woody are a warm, genuine, gracious couple. From our first phone call, I knew I wanted to win their business. They are the kind of people you just want to be around because they make you smile! Fortunately they did secure me as their day-of wedding coordinator.
Woody is a former wedding photographer and he had specific concerns about the wedding day timing. Part of my job as a day-of wedding coordinator is to build a complete timeline that details everything from the vendor arrival and departure times to the dress bustling. By doing this hefty leg work prior to the wedding day, any issues that may arise are ironed out well in advance. Then the wedding weekend is totally fun for everyone, including me! (Though any time you see behind the scenes pictures of me I’m straight faced! I need to work on that!)
Heather and Woody secured some of my favorite vendors, including The Local for their catering, Plum Blossom Music for their ceremony music, and Easy Riders Bus Company for their transportation. (Not to mention they picked one of my all-time favorite venues: Early Mountain Vineyards!) They also introduced me to a few new vendors, including an online florist called Bloominous. I was a bit leary of ordering flowers online and DIY assembly, but thanks to this hands-on couple and their friends, the arrangements were beautiful! If you are looking for a budget-friendly floral option, check them out!
Recently I was asked to name one valuable contribution I make through my profession. It’s a difficult question to answer directly because what I do is difficult to quantify. If I do my job as your wedding planner correctly, I am invisible. It’s very similar to being a mom: I am taken for granted, until I’m gone. But I feel that if I do my job well [as I so often do], my clients will remember me fondly for the rest of their lives. And I’ll certainly fondly remember sharing a momentous day with people like Heather and Woody for the rest of my days.
