The real wedding of Lauren and Alex, Becca Bee Events clients from May of 2015, is featured in the February 2016 issue of Virginia Living Magazine! A lovely write-up graces the pages and an image captured by Rebecca Keeling Studios made the cover! I’m also thrilled to share that Virginia Living named Becca Bee Events one of their “Best of 2016” wedding planners.
Lauren and Alex hired me in the spring of 2014 as their full-service wedding planner, which makes this feature especially special to me. I worked with the couple for over a year, getting to know them both personally and professionally through our face-to-face meetings and bi-monthly phone calls during which time I assisted them with soup-to-nuts details of their Charlottesville, Virginia wedding. Alex is an entrepreneur and Lauren is an actress. My primary roles were venue recommendation, vendor recommendation and budget management. I sited venues with them, attended vendor meetings on their behalf, and sourced proposals from a wide variety of vendors to meet their budget needs. I’m pleased to share the “dream team” that I assembled alongside this Houston-based couple.

Once the wedding weekend arrives, I was present for their rehearsal, conducted in conjunction with their personal friend and officiant, Charlie Parker. Like Lauren and Alex, Charlie is a southern gem. They are all dripping in charm, beauty and class, as is evidenced by the beautiful images captured by Rebecca and shared with Virginia Living. In fact, Lauren and Alex moved their rehearsal time earlier in the day so that I could be with my daughter at her preschool graduation…incredible!
On the day of their wedding, which was a Friday in May in Keswick, Virginia, God was on our side and low humidity and sunshine shone down. I especially enjoyed spending my day with Lauren and her parents. I always treasure couples who come from married parents—and Lauren’s parents fit together so nicely that it re-instills one’s faith in decades of marriage. I also treasured the time with Alex and his groomsmen, who had contacted me prior to the day to request a special song for a special choreographed dance. Alex and his guys diligently worked to perfect their surprise for Alex’s bride, much like Alex’s best man roamed the property diligently reciting his toast until it was memorized!
The wedding ceremony was moving. Set directly in front of the Keswick Vineyards home, Charlie’s words captured the couple perfectly. I, myself, was moved to tears during the ceremony when Lauren and Alex had Charlie read something about each member of the bridal party and also something about their parents. It was a deeply moving, deeply personal touch.
The reception was so much fun! The guests enjoyed great southern cuisine, served family style by Shane and his team at Caroline Street Catering. The tables were kept simple: All white linens were off-set by only greenery provided by the incomparably sweet Donna of Colonial Florals. DJ Dennis Payne kept the dance floor busy, while guests enjoyed the yummy diversion provided by Sweethaus. Sweethaus was the one vendor that Lauren introduced to me, and I’m now a lifelong diehard fan! The.best.cupcakes.ever. A sparkler send-off rounded out the night before guests boarded the Easy Riders Buses, packed with Mellow Mushroom pizzas as a late night snack. No detail was overlooked, for sure!
Here in Virginia, we don’t see too many Texans, but I wish we saw more of y’all! You are beautiful people, overflowing with love. It’s no wonder Virginia Living chose to feature Lauren and Alex: The timeless magazine fell in love with this timeless couple, and with images captured by Rebecca Keeling Studios it’s easy to understand why. I’m honored to have been such an instrumental part of your wedding day, Lauren and Alex! You will remain one of my favorites and I wish you all the best, xoxo.
